TEACHING

As a critical applied linguist and TESOL educator with intersectional experiences that resonate with those of marginalized language learners, I am deeply committed to social justice in education. This commitment is reflected in my approach to teaching as a situated praxis that intertwines critical, multilingual, decolonial research and pedagogy. I view classrooms as transformative translanguaging spaces where all students' lived experiences and linguocultural repertoires are not only welcomed but centered as assets for academic success and empowerment. Through the development and enactment of translanguaging pedagogy, critical consciousness, and critical emotion work, I aim to support learners and teachers—both pre- and in-service—in questioning and disrupting deficit-based language ideologies, nurturing asset-based identities, navigating complex emotions, and imagining more equitable futures in language and literacy education and beyond. I have been refining and enacting this praxis through my international teaching experience as a permanent and sessional lecturer and graduate teaching assistant in graduate and undergraduate level courses in the context of teacher education, academic exchange and academic English programs.
